Tuff Gong International has partnered with Tapedeck, the music-first platform founded by musician and technology executive Tim Quirk, as the service prepares for its Jamaica launch and Android rollout this September.

The new partnership creates another platform for Jamaican and independent artists to reach audiences while maintaining greater control over their music. Tuff Gong has already begun bringing both classic catalogue titles and new releases to Tapedeck, featuring artists including Queen Ifrica, Chaka Demus, Sharon Marley, Sheldon Shepherd, DJ GQ, Soul-Rebel Marley and Skip Marley.

Unlike traditional subscription streaming services, Tapedeck operates on a pay-as-you-go model, allowing fans to purchase credits and choose the music they want to support. Rights holders receive 80% of fan spending, while artists and labels can set their own prices and fans can also tip creators.

Tapedeck has also been strengthening its presence in Jamaica through support of local music initiatives, including the Rita Marley 80th birthday concerts and the ONE JAMAICA project, which directed proceeds towards Hurricane Melissa rebuilding efforts.

This September, Tuff Gong International and Tapedeck will host a free workshop for Jamaican artists and labels, introducing the platform and exploring ways it can be used for new releases, catalogue promotion and fan engagement.

With its Jamaica launch approaching, Tapedeck is also looking to connect with more Jamaican labels, artists and rights holders.

For Tuff Gong International, the partnership represents another step in its long-standing mission to create new opportunities for Jamaican music and help independent artists connect with the global marketplace.
